Thus, working at a camp (perhaps where you used to be a camper) is a logical first or second job (it also secretly checks off the fun box in a way that’s acceptable). Art Nouveau was influenced by the Arts and Crafts handiwork and craftsmanship and it is something both groups share in common however Art Nouveau did not neglect using the machines available to them to help aid heir creations. Arts and Crafts did not believe in using the machine and this was heavily instilled upon the movements leader, William Morris (1834-1896) a socialist and textile designer who throughout his life had great success in most creative outlets that he would venture into. Morris was famous for his wallpapers that mostly featured motifs of nature- mostly flowers and birds as well as tapestries like Woodpecker (1885), however these designs were usually expensive and it wasnt long until Morris had decided to venture down into something else. It was common at this time that architects not only design the buildings but also the furnishings inside and this was no different to those involved in the Arts and Crafts movements practitioners like Charles F. Voyages (1857-1941) and Philip Webb (1 831-1915). Webb is probably best known for his work on Morris Red House (1860) in Bequeathal however Webb also played a significant role in creating furnishings for the House, one especially being an Oxblood Red Dresser (1860), this was made for the purpose of Morris future children but also used as a functional storage unit. Webb had also created an ebonies wood Side Board (1861) which was painted and gilt with panels postdated leather. The sideboard had brass and copper handles with floral patterns among the body and shelves of the board. As mentioned before nature was a common motif shared by most of the Arts and Crafts designers. The Arts and Crafts movement had a great deal of importance between 1850 and 1918 and went on to influence both directly and indirectly Art Nouveau designers like Charles Rennin Mackintosh (1868-1928) a Scottish designer and Architect best known for his work on the Willow Tea Rooms here he not only designed the building but also its furniture including his famous high backed chair Which he produced many times both With back splats along with other designs. It also influenced designers like French designers Rene © Illiquid (MM 945) and Hector Gummier (1867-1942). And it was Morris who particularly influenced American designer Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848-1933). Tiffany was especially influenced by Morris particularly in Tiffany use of nature within his works, especially flowers which played a great role in most of Tiffany glass work creations- particularly his own stained glass windows. Sartre`s Existentialism John Paul Sartre is known as one of the most influential philosophers of the twentieth century. He wrote many philosophical works novels and plays. Much of his work is tied into politics. The essay Existentialism is a Humanism is just one of his many works. Existentialism is a Humanism is a political essay that was written in 1945. Its purpose was to address a small public during World War II in Nazi occupied France. This essay stressed the public not to conform. Sartre introduced a great number of philosophical concepts in Existentialism. Two of these concepts are anguish and forlornness. They are simply defined, as anguish is feeling responsible for yourself as well as others and knowing that your actions affect others and forlornness is realizing that you are alone in your decisions. These two concepts are interwoven throughout the essay and throughout many of Sartre's other works. Sartre's view of anguish and forlornness in Existentialism is a Humanism addresses his view of life and man. Sartre based his views on the basic ideas of existentialism. The idea that existence precedes essence is the central factor in the atheistic view of man. The belief that existence precedes essence states that there is "no pre-existing concept of man." (2) In the existentialist view, man is what he makes of himself. They believe that man was indefinable at first; "he first appears, then defines himself." It involves the realization that the choices and decisions a person makes not only affect the self, but they affect everyone. Anguish is getting over the selfishness that has become so prevalent in our society. A person must make decision while looking as society as a whole. Anguish is being concerned with the impact of your decisions on others. Dealing with responsibility is just one form of anguish. A person must be responsible for themselves and others. The essay Existential is a Humanism gives the example of a military officer. All leaders and military officers feel anguish. They have the responsibility to themselves as well as others. A military officer preparing to send his troops into battle must fulfill his responsibilities to himself, his superiors and his troops. What Is the Ivy League? The Ivy League is the term used to refer to the eight schools that make up the Ivy League athletic conference. What Can You Determine From These Ivy League Rankings? As you probably know, Ivy League colleges have extremely good reputations.All Ivies are ranked in the top 16 National Universities by US News.In terms of numerical rankings, there isn't much distinction among Ivy League schools, but there are some notable differences. In most Ivy League rankings, Princeton, Harvard, and Yale are at the top.They're the topIvy League schools and some of the very bestcolleges in the US. They're comparable to top-tier non-Ivy League schools such as Stanford and MIT.There's probably some debate about which schools compose the next tier of Ivy League schools, but, based on my rankings, I would put Columbia, Penn, and Brown in the second tier.Their academic reputations aren't quite as established as those of the first-tier schools, and as a whole they're slightly less selective. Comparable non-Ivy League schools include Duke and Caltech. The finaltier of Ivy League schools would be Dartmouth and Cornell.Cornell has the highest acceptance rate of all Ivy League institutions (but it still only admits 13% of its applicants). Non-Ivy League schools that are comparable to Dartmouth and Cornell in terms of quality include Northwestern and Vanderbilt. Remember that rankings are subjective, but they can reveal how colleges are viewed by employers, graduate schools, and the general public.Even though Harvard and Cornell are both incredibly prestigious schools where you can receive a world-class education and become part of a successful alumni network, the general consensus is that Harvard is the better school. They’re private schools of similar sizes with excellent academic reputations. In addition, they are all located in the same region of the US, they all have large endowments, and they all tend to offer generous financial aid. If you’re interested in attending an Ivy, you’ll have to do extensive research to determine which Ivy League school is right for you.You can use college finders, search websites, guidebooks, and other ranking lists to try to find the best Ivy for you. Here are four factors to keep in mind as you research the Ivy League: #1: Setting One of the biggest differences between Ivy League schools is their settings.Figure out whether you want to go to school in an urban, suburban, or ruralarea.The urban Ivy League schools include Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Brown, and the University of Pennsylvania. However, they’re all in cities of very different types and sizes. In terms of urban environments, Columbia is in New York City- the most densely populated city in the US- while UPenn is situated in Philadelphia, another large city. By contrast, Brown is in the small city of Providence, Rhode Island, offering a much more subdued environment. Similarly, Harvard is in a college town called Cambridge, which is located just outside of Boston. And Yale is located in New Haven, Connecticut, which has a population of just 130,000 compared with the roughly 8.4 million people in NYC. Princeton is the only Ivy League school in a suburban setting.It's more self-contained and the surrounding area is quieter than those of other Ivies. Naturally, there are far fewer entertainment options and cultural attractions than you would find in a large city (though more than you'd find in a rural area). Princeton is only an hour from Philadelphia and an hour and a half from NYC. Cornell and Dartmouth offer students a rural environment,where students are surrounded by nature and there's not much going on in the town unrelated to the college. Rural colleges tend to provide more of a community atmosphere, but there are usually fewer jobs and internships in the vicinity. A student who'd really enjoy being in the urban environment of Columbia might not enjoy the rural setting of Dartmouth, and vice versa. Be sure to think deeply about which type of setting you'd feel most comfortable in. #2: Academic Programs, Majors, and Requirements While all Ivy League schools are strong in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM, each offers different programs, general education requirements, majors, and concentrations. For example, Cornell is the only Ivy to offer a business management program with a focus on hospitality through its School of Hotel Administration. Meanwhile, Penn is home toone of the most prestigious business schools in the US and offers a number of undergraduate business majors that aren’t available at other Ivies. Lastly, Columbia has extensive general education requirements in its Core Curriculum, whereas Brown has very few. If you have an intended major or area of study, compare the majors and course offerings at the different Ivies to ensure that you’ll be able to pursue your academic interests. #3: Size The size of the school is a factor to consider as well.While most Ivy League schools are a similar size, there aresome differences to be aware of. If you're deciding between Cornell and Dartmouth, for instance, keep in mind that Cornell's undergraduate enrollment is about three times the size of Dartmouth's. While some students prefer a larger, more vibrant atmosphere, others would enjoy a smaller, more tight-knit community. #4: Campus Culture Finally,consider the campus culture of each school. DifferentIvy League schools have different reputations in regard to the types of students they attract and admit. Princeton students are often viewed as more preppy, for example, whereas Brown students are perceived as more progressive. Some stereotypes might be more accurate than others. For many toxic substances, we do not yet know how to determine theirextent or fate in the marine environment or to evaluate their effects on marinelife. Large volumes of oil suffocate benthicorganisms by clogging their gills and filtering structures or fouling theirdigestive tracts. Marine birds and mammals suffer heavily as their feathers orfur become oil soaked and matter, and they lose insulation and buoyancy. Untilrecently, marine debris was considered to be of minor importance when comparedto other pollutants. Problems caused by marine debris, however may rival orexceed those resulting from some better known pollutants, including oil. Bydefinition, marine debris is any manufactured object discarded in the marineenvironment. When dumped, it may sink to the sea floor, remain suspended atmid-depths, or float at the surface and eventually be carried ashore by windsand waves. Plastics constitute as great an environmental threat as all the otherkinds of debris, combined. Although plastics may break up into smaller pieces,they degrade much more slowly than most other kinds of debris, and most plasticsfloat. Concentrations of plastics tend to be highest in the Northern Hemisphere,where vessel traffic is the heaviest, where most plastics manufacturers andfabricators are located, and where more intensive recreational use is made ofbeaches and coastal waters. Hopefully, as we approach the twenty-first century,we can learn to leave some old and wasteful habits behind. When meiosis is finished insidethe sporangia and the spores are completed the annulus dries out releasing thespores. The archegonia are at the notch of the prothallus andthe antheridia are located near the tip. Flowering plants have unique characteristics that help them survive. One is the flower itself that contains the reproductive structures. The colorof the flower helps because it may attract birds and insects that spread theplants pollen which diversify the later generation of plants. Flowers alsoproduce fruits that protect their seeds and disperses them with the help offruit eating animals. 5. Fungi, Animalia, and, Plantae are all believed to be evolved fromProtista. All 3 of these kingdoms are eukaryotic and their cells have a nucleusand all the other organelles. Fungi live on organic material they digest,Plants produce their own organic material, and Animals go out and find theirfood. Animalia are heterotrophic whereas Plantae are photosynthetic. Fungi whodigest their own food on the outside are different from animals who digest theirfood on the inside. Plants and animals both have organs systems but animalshave organized muscle fibers and plants do not. 8. The Gasreopoda , Pelecypoda, and the Cephalapoda all have three ofthe same characteristics. The first one is the visceral mass that includesinternal organs like a highly specialized digestive tract, paired kidneys, andreproductive organs. The mantle is the second one. It is a covering thatdoesnt completely cover the visceral mass. The last one is the foot that canbe used for movement, attachment, food capture, or a combination of these. TheGastropods are the snails and slugs. They use their foot for crawling and theirmantle (shell) to protect their visceral mass. The class Pelecypoda consists ofclams, oysters, scallops, and mussels. These animals have two shells that arehinged together by a strong muscle and these shells protect the visceral mass. They use their foot for making threads so they can attach to things. Cephalopodsconsist of octopuses, squids, and nautiluses. These guys use their mantlecavity to squeeze water out and causes locomotion. The foot has evolved intotentacles around the head that are used to catch prey.
